The Era Of Reconstruction During The Civil War - 1630 Words
The freedmen fought hard for their freedom and even though they got their freedom it was followed by a brutal contraction, which was imposed by the white people. This contradiction is emblematic of the African-American experience. The era of reconstruction was a short-term success, a medium-term failure, and a foundation for the long-term successes of the civil rights movement in terms of black freedom. The era of reconstruction exposed the radical limits of freedom for natural born citizens in the post-civil war United States. The idea of freedom changed in a tremendous way for the blacks. I would like to begin by asking the same question James A. Garfield had asked in 1865, ââ¬Å"What is freedomâ⬠, is it a bare privilege of not beingâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦His story ââ¬Å"Twelve Years a slaveâ⬠has been made into a movie and is very heart touching. In his story he described what it was like to be treated as human property. Background Africans Americans were enslaved since the 17th century. By the time of the American revolution and the adoption of the the new constitution in 1787, the founder agreed to end the importation of slaves. But soon slavery was once again thriving in the southern United States. This was due to the introduction of the cotton mill. The outbreak of the civil war changed the future of the American nation, it determined what kind of a nation America would become. The main cause of the civil war was the uncompromising differences between the free and the so called slave states. After Lincoln was elected president in 1860, the southern states broke away from the federal union believing that Lincoln would restrict their right to own slaves. Slaves were treated very cruelly and many families were separated due to this. In 1857 Dred Scott ruled that slaves are subhuman property with no right of citizenship. The south defended their slave institutions by saying that the blacks are like childrenââ¬â¢s and were incapable of caring for themselves and slavery is what keeps them fed, clothed and occupied. Slaves worked all sorts of jobs but the majority worked in plantations. The civil war was one of the bitterest war in the American history. Many Americans died and many were left

I have chosen {******} to present me to you on the day of my Confirmation and to witness my commitment. I made a choice to be Confirmed because it is something I feel strongly about. When one choses to be confirmed, one is saying that the reason one goes to church is because one wants to, and not because one is being taken there. By choosing to be Confirmed, I am also choosing to love Jesus forever. You will seal my commitment to Jesus and his church by anointing me with oil and by calling me by my name. The name I wish to be called at my Confirmation is Augustine. I have chosen that name because, like Saint Augustine of Hippo, there were times when I had doubts of what my faith was about. But ever since Iââ¬â¢ve been preparing for my Confirmation, my eyes have opened and I no longer believe because Iââ¬â¢ve been told to believe. Iââ¬â¢ve felt God with me. Iââ¬â¢ve noticed everything that God does for me. And Iââ¬â¢m anxious to share that feeling with others who have wandered away from the path to our Lord. I understand that the gifts of the Holy Spirit will help me build up the church, and I wish to share in building up the Church by helping my friends come closer to God. Correlation Essay Example For Students
Correlation Essay Computer Assignment #41st T-Test: The first test compares the sex of the offender being 1= male and 2=female, and the number of substances ever used. Hypothesis: In this test I hypothesize that males (1) will have a larger number of substances used compared to the females (2) population. Logic: According to past criminal studies comparing males and females with drug use/abuse, males are more likely to have a larger problem with substance abuse and variety. Data: According to the data set the p-value of the data; this was 0.004, is less then the alpha value of 0.05. We can conclude that since that the p-value is less than the alpha value there is correlation between sex and number of different substances used. According to the data males use a larger variety of substances than do females. 2nd T-Test: The second test compares the race of the offender: (1) being white (2) being black, to the number of different crimes committed in the past year. Hypothesis: In this test I hypothesize that blacks will have a larger amount of crimes committed in the past year according to the data. Logic: According to the data in previous studies, minorities are more likely to commit a larger amount of various crimes than compared to whites. Data: According to the data set the p-value of the data comparing race and the number of crimes in a year, the p-value is greater than the alpha value of 0.05 which means that there is no correlation between the race of the offender and the number of crimes committed per year. 1st Correlation: In this correlation we are comparing scale of association with pro-social peers and number of different problem behaviors ever participated in. Hypothesis: I hypothesize that there will be a correlation between number of different problem behaviors ever participated in and scale of association with pro-social peers. Logic: The larger amount of pro-social peers should affect the amount of problem behaviors in a positive manner. Data: According to the data there is a negative correlation between the tow variables. When pro-social peers scale increases, the problem behavior scale decreases. The correlation is weak because the p-value is 0. To have a strong correlation, you need a value of 0.5 or greater to be strong.
